Diving in Montenegro (what it’s really like)

Montenegro is a super fun Adriatic destination for scuba diving + snorkeling + boat day trips—especially around Boka Bay (Kotor–Tivat–Herceg Novi) and the Luštica Peninsula. Expect calm seas, dramatic underwater rock formations, tunnels/caves, and some wreck-style dives depending on the site and operator.

Water temps are typically cooler in spring and warmest in peak summer, with many sources reporting roughly ~14°C to ~26°C across the season (varies by month and location).

Top diving & snorkel spots you’ll love (boat-accessible)

1. Blue Cave (Plava Špilja), Luštica
   Iconic glowing-blue water. Great for snorkeling and also popular for diving trips depending on conditions/time of day.
2. Mamula Island area
   Rocky walls + clear water; often combined with Luštica routes by boat.
3. WWII Submarine Tunnels (near Luštica)
   Awesome for snorkel exploration and sightseeing; some routes include them as a stop.
4. Boka Bay reefs & sheltered sites
